About Me

Heather Schenck (she/her)

“My journey into teaching mindfulness originated from my own need for healing. My practice evolved and I felt a strong desire to bring these teachings to others, in a way that is accessible to anyone.”

About Heather

Heather received her Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification through UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center. She holds Bachelor’s degrees in Nursing from Georgetown University and in Psychology from Colorado State University. Her teaching style is compassionate and accepting, as she draws on her experiences as a nurse and a mother.

Heather also works as a registered nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit. She has a partner who is also a nurse and enjoys woodworking, two young children who inspire and tire her every day, and a rescue dog named Charlie who is mischievous and playful. When she’s not meditating or working in the hospital, you might find her writing, doing yoga, rock climbing, hiking, or goofing around with her two young children.

Her own journey of finding relief from suffering through mindfulness has ignited her passion for sharing these transformative teachings with others. A few years ago, she had the opportunity to go to graduate school for her Nurse Practitioner degree but declined acceptance because she felt strongly called to bring these healing teachings to the world. She has had her own personal mindfulness practice for many years now, and is dedicated to helping people find more peace and joy in their lives using the practices and teachings of Buddhism from a secular perspective. She is passionate about making mindfulness practices more accessible to everyone.
